Writing

Writing is at the heart of everything I do. Most of my writing time goes towards working on books and blog posts, as well as my charity sector comms roles. However, I’m available to provide comment and commentary on topical stories in the press, as well as usually having an idea (or twenty) of my own up my sleeve and ready to pitch. You can find a few of my past favourites on JournoPortfolio, and you may also be interested in my awards and accolades as a writer and blogger.

I really enjoy creating informational resources on a variety of topics, as well as content for longer-form commissions and creative projects. My experiences lie mostly in disability, chronic illness, invisible conditions, inclusive education and employment, theatre, literature, and psychology. However, I’m always up for a new creative challenge.

When I have the capacity, I’m also happy to help with editing eBooks, creative writing projects, letters of application, university personal statements, and plenty more. Whether you’re looking for hands-on assistance in creating and refining your written work, or simply a final proofread, you can get in touch via [email protected].

Alongside writing and blogging, I work with several charities and social enterprises. Together, we create bespoke online content that supports the aims and objectives of the organisation and helps them reach and engage as many people as possible.

My past roles have included social media management, web content and newsletter writing, communications consultancy, online community management, and media outreach work. I love my current charity roles so much that at present I’m not seeking any additional longer-term commitments, but I do occasionally have availability for individual commissions and shorter-term projects.

As much as I adore working in the charity sector, I cannot work for free.  I strive to be as flexible as possible, especially for smaller organisations, and I’m always happy to chat about how we can work together in a mutually beneficial way. I also consider media opportunities and case study requests for charities, and wherever possible, offer my support in this area voluntarily.
