In personal interactions i have STARted using analogy of normal person running a marathon because his/her life depends on it.
As for appearance to casual observers, i really believe that is a societal issue. How to educate people to have more empathy is a larger challenge than just people with invisible illnesses.

I’m going to Florida next year and as I seem to be getting worse, I know I’ll definitely need some help to get around the parks. I think what’s put me off in the past is everyone’s perception of it because I look fine. It’s annoying we have to think about this, I’m pleased I’m not the only one though. Great post, so thanks for sharing as I feel like I’ll be in the exact same boat in Florida!
